Decline Barbell Bench Press

Barbell Chest

The Decline Barbell Bench Press is a strength movement that targets your chest. Here's how to do it with clean form.

How to do the Decline Barbell Bench Press

  1. Secure your feet in the pad anchors and lie back on the decline bench, eyes under the bar.
  2. Grip slightly wider than shoulder-width, unrack, and lower the bar to your lower chest.
  3. Press straight up to lockout — keep your shoulder blades pinched together throughout.
  4. Have a spotter present; re-racking blind on a decline is a common hazard.
